Kenneth Errington started Painting By Ken in 1974 with a simple standard: prep the surface properly, use quality materials, stand behind the work. Fifty years later, that standard has not changed.

Ken's son Christopher grew up in the business and now manages operations, project scheduling, and customer relationships. Together with a small crew that has been with the company for years, we handle interior and exterior residential painting, cabinet refinishing, wood restoration, commercial projects, and remodeling across Contra Costa County.

We are a small business by design. Ken and Chris personally oversee every project. When you call the number on our website, one of them answers. When your estimate is delivered, one of them wrote it. That is deliberate. It is also why our repeat customer rate is what it is.

Why we still do this after fifty years

Painting is a trade where shortcuts are invisible on day one and expensive by year two. We do not take shortcuts because we do not want to come back and repaint something we already painted. It is that simple.
